Nicole N. Nequinto is a Filipino filmmaker – producer, writer, director based in Manila, Philippines. With improv training from Upright Citizens Brigade and screenwriting and producing at the UCLA Extension in Los Angeles.
Her directorial debut, “Still Trying,” has been featured in film festivals throughout America and the UK.

Nicole grew up in Manila, Philippines where she studied journalism and pursued independent theater. Throughout her life she’s been interested in theater, film, television and anything that involves great storytelling.
In college, she helped in founding the independent theater organization Dulaang Kalay. They are known for showcasing both original work such as “Series Finale: Saan Hahantong Ang Tagpong Ito?!,” “Ang Pamilia Peratedes.” As well as the international pieces “The Woman in Black” and Mindy Kaling’s stage play “Matt & Ben,” where she also performed as Ben Affleck.

She moved to L.A. in 2016 to pursue filmmaking and has finished certificates in screenwriting and producing through the UCLA Extension. Through them, she was able to gain industry experience as an intern for a boutique talent agency, Cold Iron Pictures & the Film Arcade and the Feature Film Program at the Sundance Institute.
Her work has been featured in the Florida Film Festival 2019, NewFilmmakers Los Angeles (The Comedian), Bend Film Festival 2020 and the Austin Asian American Film Festival 2020. Her first pilot was selected as a 2018 second rounder for the Austin Film Festival.
She got her start in filmmaking as a production assistant on various short films from Tribes (2019) to the Filipino-American comedy short, “Suzie Wrong,” and “Flying Whispers.”
Her other short films and filmmaking experience include “Baba’s Next Chapter” (producer, 2019 Florida Film Festival) and “Spells Like Teen Spirit” (producer and co-writer, nominated for Best Screenplay at the 2020 Crimson Screen film festival) and “A Good Shake” as part of the Four Points Film Project.
Outside of film, she has produced a comedy podcast, web-sketch series and performs with UCB’s Filipino AF: A Fil-Am Comedy and Variety Show, including their performance at the 2018 San Francisco Sketch Fest.
